Second Mile Haiti, provides maternal and newborn healthcare for women as well as health education & job opportunities for parents. 

The Malnutrition Treatment Center is a residential center staffed by nurses, therapists, educators, and psychologists that offers families and communities a comprehensive approach to treating and preventing childhood malnutrition.

Jennifer Schenk

Executive Director

Jenn Schenk has been leading Second Mile since its founding in 2011. As one of the organization’s co-founders, Jenn was instrumental in taking the organization from vision to reality. If she’s forced to pick the one thing she loves most about her job, it’s working every day with the Haitian team. She has been living in Haiti, full-time, since 2010.

Amy Syres

Program Director

Amy Syres has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and more than 11 years of experience in non-profit leadership, project management, and monitoring and evaluation. Amy co-founded Second Mile Haiti in 2011 and has served as the organizations Program Director since 2013. She began living in Haiti full-time in 2010 where she first served as the nurse at an infant care center.

She has been living in Haiti, full-time, since 2010.

Amy Syres

Program Director

Amy Syres has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and more than 11 years of experience in non-profit leadership, project management, and monitoring and evaluation. Amy co-founded Second Mile Haiti in 2011 and has served as the organizations Program Director since 2013. She began living in Haiti full-time in 2010 where she first served as the nurse at an infant care center overseeing both inpatient and outpatient care of malnourished infants.
